The Dubai Maritime Navigation Regulation and Safety Commission has launched the Maritime Assistant Service, which will provide government departments with maritime vessels in the waters of the emirate of Dubai.
According to WAM, the service was launched in partnership with the Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) at Ports, Customs and Free Zones Corporation (PCFC).
Sheikh Saeed bin Ahmed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, Executive Director of DMCA, confirmed that the Maritime Assistant Service has been launched as directed by Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed to develop a system to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of Dubai’s maritime sector. system.
The Maritime Assistant Service aims to create a unified civil entity under the umbrella of the DMCA, Dubai Municipality and the Dubai International Maritime Club. The entity will initially provide 10 vessels and provide on-site and logistical services to enable the government entity to carry out its mission in the waters of the emirate of Dubai. These tasks may include inspections, marine surveys and other field operations.
Sheikh Saeed bin Ahmed said: “The Maritime Assistant Service provides services to all government departments to improve the level of coordination between these authorities. Requesting entities can contact the authorities directly and the use of ships for execution requires their presence mission. The waters of the emirate of Dubai are readily available.”
Sheikh Saeed explained that the Maritime Assistant Service is designed to enforce laws, decisions and regulations and maintain discipline in Dubai waters. He noted that the DMCA will assume responsibility for coordinating and overseeing the supply of ships when needed.
The DMCA Executive Director thanked Sheikh Mansoor for his continued follow-up to develop Dubai’s maritime sector in accordance with the highest standards and international practices.
