Dubai Metro Ridership 2026 Crosses 348 Million In H1
New figures on Dubai Metro ridership 2026 show just how much residents are leaning on public transport, with the city’s buses, Metro, tram, taxis and shared mobility options carrying roughly 348.1 million passengers combined in the first six months of the year.
That works out to close to 1.9 million riders a day, according to numbers released by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
Among all the options, the Metro, taxis and public buses carried the largest share of trips, underlining how central these three remain to daily life in the city.
The steady rise in ridership comes as Dubai keeps investing heavily in expanding its transport network to keep pace with a growing population.
Construction is already underway on the new Blue Line, a 30-kilometre stretch featuring 14 stations that will add another layer to the existing Metro map.
Beyond that, plans are moving forward for the Gold Line, a fully underground, 42-kilometre Metro line carrying a price tag of around Dh34 billion once complete.
Together, these upgrades point to a city betting heavily on rail and shared transport to manage future growth, rather than leaving residents dependent purely on private cars.
For commuters, the payoff should eventually mean shorter journeys and more coverage across neighbourhoods currently underserved by the Metro network.
