Dubai receives 11.4 million tourists in 10 months; 134% jump

The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) has announced the launch of the annual Dubai Tourism Summit, the first tourism forum of its kind in the region. The announcement follows figures showing Dubai welcomed 11.4 million international overnight visitors between January and October.

According to the Wam news agency, the summit will lay the groundwork for an indigenous world-class thought leadership program to drive the city’s tourism recovery and support regional and global tourism.

DET announced the forum at Skift Global Forum East’s bi-annual City Briefing event, the first MENA extension of the Skift Global Forum.

The Dubai Tourism Summit will provide a platform for industry stakeholders to share their visions, ideas, strategies and best practices, as well as ideas on leveraging the latest innovations and trends to create a more resilient, inclusive and sustainable global tourism industry. insights into the future.

DET also shared its latest travel report for the first 10 months of 2022. The figures show that Dubai welcomed 11.4 million international overnight visitors between January and October, an impressive 134% year-on-year increase, making the city the most visited destination in the world as it travels further.

DET’s ‘City Briefing’ was moderated by DET Director General Helal Saeed Al Marri and attended by more than 1,000 executives from the travel ecosystem including aviation, travel, hospitality and retail. Strong Hotel Growth

Dubai’s hotel inventory for October 2022 includes 144,737 rooms across 790 establishments, compared to 122,185 rooms available across 724 establishments at the end of October 2019. The total number of hotels in the first 10 months of 2022 was 8% higher than the same period in 2021, underscoring the strong confidence investors have in Dubai’s tourism sector.

The hotel industry is performing better than pre-pandemic levels on all other key metrics: room nights stayed, average daily rate (ADR) and revenue per available room (RevPAR). Despite a notable 18% increase in supply compared to pre-pandemic levels, Dubai hotels posted strong growth in ADR and REVPAR from 2019 levels. Dubai hotel facilities delivered a total of 30.4 million room nights in the first ten months of the year, up 23% year-to-date and 17% from the pre-pandemic period in 2019, generating 26.01 million room nights.

The ADR of AED506 in the first 10 months of 2022 exceeds the ADR of the first 10 months of 2021 (AED384) and 2019 (AED400), and the ADR in October 2022 is 32% higher than the YTD in October 2021, which is 27% higher Compared to October 2019 year-to-date.
