Dubai Tourism Academy emphasizes the importance of hands-on training to prepare tomorrow’s hotel industry workforce – Dubai Blog

The Dubai Institute of Tourism (DCT) is part of the Dubai Tourism and Business Marketing Department (Dubai Tourism) and operates the region’s first multidisciplinary education platform, aiming to create a vibrant, global and forward-looking workforce. Dubai’s talents come from Dubai.

The college offers courses specifically designed for young students who wish to work in the tourism industry. The well-planned certificate and diploma courses cover five course areas-tourism, hospitality, retail business, events and culinary arts, providing students with a way to achieve professional success through world-class academic courses. Earlier this year, DCT and Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU), one of the UK’s oldest and largest higher education institutions, announced a new pathway for students at the Dubai Institute of Tourism. Through the new path, students who have obtained the DCT Advanced Diploma and the required GPA will be able to continue and obtain a “supplementary degree” for LJMU students and obtain a highly recognized English BA (Honours) degree institution.

Aiming to bridge the gap between internal training and a full bachelor’s degree, as a vocational college, DCT focuses on providing students with practical experience to supplement their theoretical knowledge. As part of the Dubai Tourism Board, DCT has the unique advantage of allowing students to reach many well-known urban stakeholders, from large hotel groups to retail stores and restaurant owners. Internships emphasize real-world skills and are a key element of the DCT curriculum because they give students the confidence and experience needed to succeed as the next generation of tourism leaders in the city.

Previous students have been able to collaborate with the college’s partners, including major events in the Dubai calendar, including the Dubai Fitness Challenge, Dubai Food Festival and Arab Fashion Week. As part of the DCT curriculum, the practical experience that students can gain further advances the college’s proposition to help students achieve professional success through training and world-class academic programs.
