International higher education institutions in Dubai are reporting an 8% annual increase in student enrollment, according to the latest figures published by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) in Dubai. In addition, the number of international students choosing Dubai to complete their higher education has increased by 12% and now accounts for nearly a third of all students.

A new infographic released by KHDA shows that the total number of students currently enrolled in university programs exceeds 30,000.

The landscape infographic published by KHDA presents comprehensive data on Dubai’s higher education sector, including details of international higher education institutions, students, courses, faculty and fields of study.

Available graduate data shows for the first time that more than 80 per cent of students graduating from Dubai higher education institutions in the past two academic years are in employment or further study.

The number of courses offered by international universities has increased by 21% over the past three academic years, with degrees in business, engineering and information technology proving to be the most popular with international students and Emiratis. Business, Media Studies and Information Technology rank in the top three among determined students.

Data for this academic year also show that 60% of students are studying for a bachelor’s degree, 30% for a master’s degree and 2% for a doctorate. Nearly 80% of students are full-time students.

KHDA Director General Dr Abdulla Al Karam said Dubai continues to strengthen its position as a leading destination for international higher education. “The increase in the number of international campuses opening in Dubai and the diversity of programs available are attracting more international students to study in the city.

This progress shows [the] The University’s educational quality and commitment to building a truly world-class higher education sector. We look forward to working with university leaders to further enhance Dubai’s status as a regional and international center for higher education. “
