Moscow, 9 March (BelTA) – The Eurasian Economic Union plans to create a transport hub in the United Arab Emirates, said Vladimir Serpi, Director of the EEC Trade Policy Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission Press Service Kov told BelTA after his visit. In the UAE, he met with a UAE business delegation led by Hassan Al Hashimi, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce.

The parties exchanged views on the prospects for expanding cooperation between the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union and the United Arab Emirates. “We see great potential in establishing a distribution network and a transport hub in the UAE, provided the UAE is interested in this project. This will help expand trade between EAEU countries and countries in the Middle East region, and in the future cooperate with African countries,” said Vaughn. Vladimir Serpikov said.

He also highlighted the issue of strengthening cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union and the UAE. This applies in particular to the development of international north-south transport corridors. The UAE has been proposed to consider joining the Eurasian Agricultural Express project.

“Projects such as this make it possible to move to full digital technology in rail freight transport using electronic shipping and shipping documents, which in turn could reduce delivery times and remove administrative barriers to trade,” the EEC emphasized.

“Hassan Hashemi confirmed his interest in expanding comprehensive cooperation with the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, including on the above-mentioned issues,” the press service added.
