Editorial: Levitt AMP Utica Music Series delivers world-class entertainment, atmosphere

[ad_1]

On Monday, organizers of the Levitt AMP Utica Music Series announced with great anticipation the lineup of artists who will perform as part of this year’s series.

And well deserved, because these shows don’t just entertain hundreds of locals each week—they bring the community together in a way that only the arts can.

We applaud the organizers for not only bringing together truly world-class performers across a variety of genres, but for engaging and highlighting the wonderful diversity of the community.

The 2023 season of the Levitt AMP Utica Music Series will feature headlining artists from Ireland, Wisconsin, Iowa, Toronto, Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York.

These concerts are held at Kopernik Park in downtown Utica at 317 Genesee St. on the corner of Eagle Street and Park Avenue – also hosting local and regional acts and many young performers, giving many first-time “Rest” in the industry.

This year’s line-up of high-caliber talent spans a variety of genres, from gospel to pop, bluegrass to rock, as well as instrumental, blues, Irish rock and soul.

The public is invited to bring their own blankets and lawn chairs to the free concert. The series will also feature artistic activities for young concertgoers, and food trucks and vendors will be on hand.

The series “welcomes the city’s most diverse audience in a family-friendly, alcohol-free, convivial, welcoming environment,” according to organizers, adding that the shows are a space for weekly social connection , the community can share a common experience with free live music as a carrier.

Organizers added that the concerts help increase community well-being and connection, and improve quality of life, complementing the many economic development projects Utica is working on.

We totally agree.

The neighborhood embraces inclusive renaissance in a way no other district can match, with a keen sense of cultural richness and community empowerment.

There is no doubt that more can and should be done to help this city and the region reach its incredible potential, but this musical series is a welcome reminder of how far we have come and what we currently have to offer and something to enjoy.
