NEW ORLEANS — The Big Easy is gearing up to host the 2023 Cattle Industry Conference and NCBA Trade Show, Feb. 1-3.
Known for its world-class food, jazz music and lively nightlife, New Orleans is the perfect place to bring the cattle industry together for education, entertainment and engagement.
The annual convention kicks off on February 1 with Music Row Happy Hour host Buzz Brainard returning as host.
The opening session will include a casual conversation between “Yellowstone” creator Tyler Sheridan and Don Shefelbein, president of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association and Minnesota cattle producer.
The pair will discuss ranch life, today’s challenges and share industry stories in an authentic way.
Sheridan is an Academy Award-nominated author, actor and rancher, and a member of the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame.
CattleFax’s outlook session will focus on demand and supply for beef, cattle and competing proteins.
Analysts will present price and earnings outlooks for all categories of cattle and beef through 2023 and beyond, explore import and export markets and provide grain outlooks.
Meteorologist Matt Makens is releasing his forecast for 2023, highlighting changing weather patterns in the United States and around the world.
Plan to attend Friday morning’s high-profile session to hear from government dignitaries and provide an update on the U.S. and global beef business environment, moderated by Ethan Lane, NCBA’s vice president for government affairs.
The closing session will celebrate the Beef Checkoff-funded Beef Quality Assurance Program and BQA winners, and will feature keynote speaker Chris Koch, who will not let restrictions or obstacles stand in his way.
Despite being born without arms and legs, Koch grew up like any other small-town kid—playing road hockey, trick-or-treating at school, and helping out on the family’s farm.
Today, Koch is a motivational speaker who inspires his audience to constantly challenge themselves and live the life they’ve always wanted.
Franki Moscato, winner of the 10th Annual National Anthem Contest, will perform at the opening ceremony of the convention and Friday night’s event.
Country trio Chapel Hart will combine their Mississippi roots with Louisiana spice for a special performance during the closing convention.
The convention will conclude on Friday night with “Party Gras” by country music band Midland and special guest Neal McCoy. The 30th annual Cattlemen’s College will feature live animal handling demonstrations and 18 educational sessions with industry leaders exploring innovative topics.
The Cattle Feeders Hall of Fame Banquet and Environmental Stewardship Awards Program Reception will recognize the achievements of leaders, and there will be over 8 acres of trade show exhibits to explore.
Additionally, producers will work to guide NCBA policy and beef inspection programs.
Annual meetings of the NCBA, Cattlemen’s Beef Council, National Cattlewomen Association, CattleFax and the National Cattlemen’s Foundation will also be held.
