A long weekend is coming…
The first day of Eid al-Fitr is expected to take place on Saturday, July 9, the International Astronomical Center announced in an article published by the state news agency. Wow.
In the Islamic calendar, Arafat Day takes place approximately 70 days after Eid al-Fitr, marking the second day of the Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca). This year, Arafat Day is expected to take place on Friday, July 8; then the next day marks the start of Eid al-Adha.
The Hijri dates for this holiday are 10 to 12 Dhu Al Hijjah 1443, most likely from Saturday 9 July to Monday 11 July 2022. So we’ll have a three-day weekend soon.

What is Eid al-Adha?
According to tradition, Eid al-Adha commemorates Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son, after God instructed him to do so. The Prophet Ibrahim told the dream to his son, who then told his father to obey the command. But God stepped in and sent a sheep in his son’s place.
The public and private sectors usually take a few days off on the days of Eid al-Adha, however, as with any Islamic holiday, the decision is based on the phases of the moon, so we won’t know the exact date until the moon has been officially positioned.
