Busy period starts on 14th October as school is closed for mid term

With schools closed and the peak travel period starting on 14th October, Emirates has announced several ways to ensure a smooth and fast travel experience for families, including a new update to the Emirates app and a digital check-in option. All passengers are advised to arrive at the airport 3 hours before their flight and take advantage of the airline’s smart technology to ensure seamless travel during peak hours.
1. Plan everything on the Emirates app
Passengers are encouraged to download the Emirates app on their mobile phones to keep flight details up to date. Users can now track their luggage, book and change flights, download digital boarding passes for most destinations, check the meals offered on board, book their chauffeur service, and even pre-select and schedule movies for in-flight entertainment via ice — – Keeping kids comfortable and happy on board is not a waste of time.
2. Online check-in, or remote check-in in Ajman
All passengers can check in online using the online check-in option on the Emirates website 48 hours prior to flight departure. With just a few clicks, they can choose their seats and preferred meals, and take advantage of any last-minute upgrade options. At the airport, you can easily drop off your bags and download your electronic boarding pass at a dedicated bag drop counter.
Passengers departing from Ajman can also enjoy 24-hour city check-in at Ajman Central Bus Terminal. Passengers can check in up to 4 hours before their flight, show health documents, check in their luggage and collect their boarding pass, buy a bus ticket for AED 20, and go directly to Emirates Terminal 3 with full bus service. Days from 4am to 11.30pm. Once at the airport, passengers simply continue to take their flight.
3. Pack your bags early or check in at home
A great free option – especially for families traveling with children – is to drop off your luggage the night before your trip. Passengers departing from Dubai can check in 24 hours in advance, have their luggage checked at the airport, or 12 hours before departure if flying to the US or Tel Aviv, then arrive at the airport and go directly to immigration.
Emirates also offers family check-in services by DUBZ in Dubai and Sharjah, making travel fast and smooth. DUBZ staff completes the check-in process at the customer’s home, hotel or office, then takes the luggage to the flight, while the customer is free to move around at the airport later.
By booking and paying for the service at least 24 hours before flight departure, passengers can go to the airport for check-in 6 hours before flight departure. Home check-in is free when one book first class.
4. Airport self-service check-in kiosks
Once at the airport, a quick and easy option is a self-service check-in kiosk. Passengers can follow the steps on the touch screen self-service terminal to complete the check-in procedure, or use the mobile phone to operate the self-service terminal without contact. You can view your travel itinerary, select your preferred seat and add your Emirates Skywards number, and if you’ve already checked in online, you can also choose to drop your bags using the Baggage Drop Zone.
5. Get smart with biometrics
For first and business class passengers leaving Dubai, the smart tunnel at Dubai International Airport is a world-first passport control tunnel, allowing passengers to pass through immigration authorities simply through the tunnel without human intervention or physical passport stamps. Facial data can be captured by simply taking a quick photo at check-in.
Passengers can check in, go through immigration, enter the airport lounge in Concourse B, and board at selected gates using facial recognition alone or using a boarding pass.
Passengers can also register for smart gates at Emirates Terminal 3 and quickly pass through immigration each time they return to Dubai.
Passengers can use their passport, boarding pass or valid Emirates ID if they are UAE citizens or residents. The smart door can also be used by GCC nationals or visa-on-arrival visitors with biometric passports.
