Entertainment at the Lewis & Clark Tap Room

Lewis & Clark Tap Room has the following upcoming events:

Kenny Feld and Cowboy Killer and Robber $10 in advance / $15 on the day of the show on Friday, October 14th from 7-10pm for a grungy western vibe. Show as 21+ with valid ID.

On Friday, October 14th, saxophonist Wilbur Rehmann and pianist Ken Nelson will perform at Benny’s Bistro, 108 E 6th Ave., from 6-8pm.

Kings Return, the Dallas a cappella quartet best known for their great video of singing in the stairwell, will perform at The Myrna Loy on Thursday, October 13th at 7:30pm.

First formed to sing for Gabe Kunda’s graduation concert in 2016, the overwhelming response prompted Kunda and his friends to start a quartet.

The current members are Kunda, lead bass; Jamal Williams, baritone; Vaughan Faison, tenor 1; and JE McKissic, tenor 2.

Cohesion Ball 2022 Gala

The Cohesion Dance Project will be celebrating its year-long 10th anniversary on Friday, October 14 at the Cohesion Centre, 1020 Argyll Street, from 6-8pm, with a celebration that will showcase Cohesion’s inspiring and exciting 2022-2023 season. Fascinating programming.

While enjoying refreshments and hors d’oeuvres, guests will learn about Cohesion’s mission and breadth of programming, including athletic education and performance opportunities for people of all ages and abilities. The event will feature live dance performances by Cohesion’s diverse student body and “The Nutcracker on the Rock” cast.

Townsend’s “Sword Art Online” performance

The incredible saga of Thomas Francis Meagher, an Irish patriot who became Montana’s first acting territorial governor, came to life on stage at The Lodge in Townsend.

Neal and Karen Lewing, renowned producers at the Polson Harbor Players Theatre, present “Meagher of the Sword” at 7pm. Friday, October 14th, sponsored by Broadwater Community Theatre.

INKtober artist exhibition in Queen City

In October, seven artists from Helena will be exhibiting at Queen City Frame and Art Supplies’ sixth annual juried INKtober art show. All works are required to use ink as the main element, and the works must interpret this year’s theme “My Dream”.

There will be an INKtober Artist Reception on Friday, October 14th from 5-7pm and many artists will be present, so you are invited to come and support some of our local artists.

The Helena 2022 Inktober Art Show includes artists: Katie Luther, EL Predmore, Kate Runnalls, Janet Sheehy, John Ulberg and Jane Weaver. The winner of the Judges’ Choice Award is “My Dreams” by Jane Weaver! Invite you to stop by and vote for your favorites.

Courses offered at the Holter Museum of Art:

Figure Drawing Open Studio: Saturday, October 15, 9am-noon. $25 for non-members; $20 for members. Open to all levels. Bring your own media. For this monthly occasion, the model will hold 2 long poses over a 3 hour period.

Early Childhood Art Begins: Saturday, October 15, 10am-11:30am Museum members $11; non-members $15. This early art start will engage and entertain participants through storytime sessions and hands-on art activities led by friendly Holter art instructors.

Cardboard Adventure: Tuesday or Thursday Games and Armory: $10 for members, $15 for non-members, Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. Suitable for ages 8-16.

St. Paul’s Methodist Church will host Dr. Semir Osmanagich on October 13th at 7pm, who will present “Montana Stones and Pyramids Around the World”.

1st Secret Service

Bill Woon, son of a former member of Canada’s 1st Special Forces, will speak to the Metropolitan Dinner Club on Thursday, October 27th in the downstairs ballroom of the Family Roots Restaurant at 1720 11th Ave.

It was in Helena that Bill met many surviving 1st Special Forces veterans and joined the FSSF Society. Over the past 30 years, he has held various positions at the First Special Forces Association, including Executive Director. Bill also serves on the board of directors of the Lewis and Clark County Veterans Memorial Foundation.

The Queens Beer Festival will be held October 14-15 at the Lewis & Clark County Fairgrounds. Events are Friday from 2pm to midnight and Saturday from 11am to midnight.

The Bray is offering a free healthcare appreciation class exclusively for our Helena healthcare workers in recognition of their tireless efforts throughout the pandemic.

A presentation on “The Struggle for Democracy in Burma” will be given at the Lewis and Clark Library on Thursday, October 20th at 6:30pm.

The founder of Better Burma, a humanitarian organization that works on behalf of people affected by Myanmar’s military takeover last year, will speak. Joah McGee and Jingyi Zhan have lived in Myanmar for 15 years, but were visiting family in Colorado when the military overthrew the democratic government in early 2021, throwing their adopted home into chaos.

Unsure of the safety of their return, but appalled by the brutality suffered by protesters, including close friends, they set up Better Burma to provide vital aid to those affected by the ongoing conflict.
