Emirates highlights return to growth amid ATMs

Speaking on the global stage of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) alongside renowned aviation commentator John Strickland, Emirates Chairman Sir Timothy Clark highlighted the resurgence in passenger numbers witnessed by the global aviation industry.

Commenting on Emirates’ performance in the post-pandemic world, Clarke said: “We have used this time during the pandemic to carefully organize our resources and have a solid plan in place that will allow us to fly as soon as the skies open again. With ATM 2023 focused on “working towards net-zero emissions,” Clarke said of the airline’s sustainability strategy: “The aviation industry uses fuel that accounts for 2-2.5% of global emissions. As passenger numbers increase, we must Strive to reduce our carbon footprint. Emirates has a number of sustainability initiatives across the business. On the travel tech scene, day three of ATM 2023 kicked off with investment trends leading travel tech, while strategic sustainability planning was the focus of this morning’s discussion at the Sustainability Hub. As ATM celebrates its 30th anniversary, speakers gathered on the global stage today to look back at the UAE’s tourism industry over the past three years during UAE Tourism Success: 30 Years in Review.
The final day of ATM 2023 continued the momentum with a variety of insightful sessions scheduled. On the global stage, the day will kick off with a panel discussion on the benefits of engaging young people in tourism, with a focus on preparing for the Sustainable Development Goals.

Tomorrow’s Travel Tech Stage will also feature several sessions around the theme of “Bridging the Technology Gap”, covering areas such as NDC and ChatGPT. A session on rural tourism will be the highlight of the last day at the Center for Sustainable Development.

ATM 2023 is co-hosted with Dubai World Trade Center with strategic partners including Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) as Destination Partner, Emirates as Official Airline Partner, IHG Hotels & Resorts as Official Hotel Partner and Al Rais Travel as an official DMC partner. – trade arab news agency
