Emirates News Agency – Abdullah bin Zayed unveils COP28 UAE logo reflecting ‘One World’ concept

ABU DHABI, 17th January, 2023 (WAM) — The UAE Presidency of COP28 has unveiled its new official logo and branding for the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), COP28, which will It will be held at Dubai Expo City from November 30th to December 12th, 2023.

Guided by the notion that we are all inhabitants of “one world”, the light and dark green spherical design includes a range of different icons, from people and renewable energy technology to wildlife and nature, encapsulated in a sphere middle. These images represent humanity’s rich natural and technological resources and highlight the need for innovation across all sectors to drive inclusive and transformative sustainable development.

The design reminds the global community to unite in support of urgent climate action and to embark on a path to inclusive climate action. The visuals underscore the message that COP28 will be a COP for all who connect North and South across the globe, including the public and private sectors, scientists and civil society, women and youth, all of which are mentioned in the image.

It will also promote the message that COP28 will be a COP for action, raising ambition and moving from goals to achieving results in terms of mitigation, adaptation, financing and loss and damage.

Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, President-elect of COP28, said of the new logo: “We live in a world where we need to collaborate and cooperate like never before to achieve what is needed to achieve the Paris Agreement. Transformational progress. COP28 will be the COP for action and the COP for all, bringing together the global North and South to leave no one behind.

“COP28 in the UAE will seek a global consensus so we can go further, faster, from goal to completion.”

The new identity and branding will be applied to all COP28 UAE brands, including the newly launched website and Expo Dubai site. Additionally, a dynamic animation of the logo can be viewed here, bringing the logo and its story to life on digital media.

In early January, the UAE, the COP28 presidency, announced the appointment of a diverse leadership team that will work closely with the UNFCCC and COP27 presidencies to develop an inclusive and comprehensive agenda for the global climate summit.

The UAE looks forward to welcoming the world to COP28 and working with all stakeholders to pursue a balanced, ambitious and inclusive outcome, leaving a legacy of hope for our children and grandchildren.

Talal Humaid Belhoul, Director of National Security, Dubai Police; Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Commander-in-Chief, Abu Dhabi Police (ADP) Major General Pilot; Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Deputy Minister of the Interior; Olafur Ragnar Grimsson, Former President of Iceland; Dr. Franz Tattenbach, Minister of Environment and Energy, Costa Rica; Patricia Espinosa Cantellano, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC ) former Executive Secretary; and Glenn Pearce, Director of International Relations and Special Projects, Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL).
