WASHINGTON, 15th December, 2022 (WAM) — Abdullah bin Baia, Secretary-General of Abu Dhabi Peace Forum, participated in the current summit of US-African leaders in Washington, attended by more than 50 representatives from Africa group.
The summit aims to discuss various security challenges, counter-terrorism efforts and development issues.
During the summit, Baia met with Nigerian President Buhari, Guinea-Bissau President Embaro, Nigerian President Bazoum, and African Union Commission Chairman Faki Mohamed.
In his statement, bin Baia said the visit embodies the vision of the UAE under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to spread peace and openness around the world , and to promote the values ​​of tolerance, coexistence and respect, the strategic vision of President His Highness Sheikh Mohammed’s historic address to the nation in July 2022.
He added that the invitation to the summit recognized the UAE’s efforts to promote peace and reconciliation on the African continent, given the country’s emphasis on the vision of coexistence, reconciliation and tolerance.
Bin Bayyah then highlighted the success of the African Conference for Peace, noting that the Summit of African Heads of State and Government adopted the Nouakchott Declaration issued by the First International Forum of the African Conference for Peace.
He also highlighted the UAE’s cultural tours and groundbreaking initiatives, as well as the Abu Dhabi Peace Forum and Africa Conference’s strategic partnership, aimed at creating a platform that brings together policymakers, academics and youth.
