Emirates News Agency – Abu Dhabi, Sorbonne University, Abu Dhabi Environment Agency sign MoU

ABU DHABI, 13th March, 2023 (WAM) — The Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi and the Environment Agency Abu Dhabi, EAD, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cover environmental research needs, collaboration in research and more , knowledge exchange and development across a wide range of environment-related disciplines.

The agreement is based on Abu Dhabi Sorbonne University’s Go Green 2023 initiative, which aims to engage students, staff and staff in creating a more sustainable future, with a focus on raising awareness of climate change issues and developing strategies to address environmental challenges initiatives and promote sustainable practices.

The MoU was signed at a signing ceremony at EAD headquarters by Prof. Silvia Serrano, Vice-Chancellor of Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, and Dr. Shaikha Salem Al Dhaheri, Secretary General of EAD.

Under the MOU, the two organizations will conduct environmental research to systematically identify and fill gaps in scientific knowledge in understanding the emirate of Abu Dhabi’s environmental systems and their interactions with social and economic systems. In addition, the two organizations will collaborate on research, knowledge exchange and visits to research facilities and sites of scientific interest.

The agreement will lead to the establishment of joint research projects, sharing of resources and development of innovative solutions to address the region’s environmental challenges. Additionally, it will provide the University with the opportunity to contribute to the development of evidence-based policymaking and initiatives for sustainable development and environmental protection in Abu Dhabi.

Professor Silvia Serrano, Vice-Chancellor, Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, said: “This MoU with EAD marks an important milestone in our commitment to the Go Green 2023 initiative to protect the environment, address the challenge of climate change and promote sustainability We strongly believe that this partnership will strengthen our research capabilities and encourage collaborative projects, with a positive and far-reaching impact across the region. Ahmed Baharoon, Executive Director, Environmental Information, EAD Science Extension Management, added: “The signing of this MoU with the Sorbonne University in Abu Dhabi is a great opportunity Renowned for research excellence.
