ABU DHABI, 1st July, 2022 (WAM) — The Abu Dhabi Summer Games (ADSS) kicked off today at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), the ideal indoor summer setting for sports and physical activity.
The event, held in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC), will run until 31 August and aims to encourage people to lead a healthy lifestyle.
The Abu Dhabi Summer Games kicked off at an opening ceremony attended by senior officials from various government agencies in Abu Dhabi. VIP guests from the private and public sectors included Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Community Development; Aref Al Awani, Secretary General of ADSC; Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer of ADNEC.
The Abu Dhabi Summer Campaign is supported by gold sponsors including the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre and Drops, an advanced e-commerce platform with all traditional retail categories.
ADSS, the largest project of its kind in the region, will provide the ideal setting for sport in Abu Dhabi during the summer and strengthen the UAE’s role in supporting sport through its many world-class facilities. Consolidating Abu Dhabi’s position as the sports capital of the region, sport is increasingly becoming an integral part of sustainable lifestyles.
The Abu Dhabi Summer Games provide an excellent sports venue with an air-conditioned indoor court with more than 25 tracks and pitches set to the highest standards, with a total area of ​​over 27,000 square meters. The campaign also includes side events for individuals, groups, families and sports fans.
ADSS offers a variety of events and venues within the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, including three 7-a-side football pitches, two 5-a-side football pitches, eight padel tennis courts, three basketball courts, three badminton courts, three Volleyball court, a cricket pitch, CrossFit track and 1km track.
Visitors can walk the 1km track for free throughout the event. Halls 8 to 12 have been converted into basketball, football, cricket, tennis and badminton courts and are open to sports fans on weekdays from 13:00 to 1:00.
