ABU DHABI, 10th July, 2022 (WAM) — The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi has announced amendments to the provisions of the implementing regulations of Law No. (18) of 2009 prohibiting parking in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi Vehicles, and the Enforcement Regulations of Law No. (17) of 2017 on Road Tolls in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The decision was made in accordance with Resolution No. (72) of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi of 2022 on amending Law No. (18) of 2009 on the Management of Vehicle Parking in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and No. 2017 on Road Tolls in the Emirate (17) Law. The decision stipulates that public car parks and the “Darb” toll gate system will not be charged on Sundays, but not on Fridays.
Following the implementation of the new resolution, the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) of the Ministry of Municipalities and Transport announced that the emirate’s public car park charges and “Darb” toll gate system charges will be applicable from Monday to Saturday and free on Sundays, excluding public holidays. This will take effect from July 15, 2022.
The resolution complies with the requirements of the Department of Transportation to enhance the streamlining and mobility of traffic during peak hours on weekdays, promote traffic flow, and increase the level of safety on the emirate’s roads.
