RIYADH, 9th December, 2022 (WAM) — The Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has commended the United Arab Emirates’ response to climate change.
The Council reiterated its support for the UAE’s hosting of COP28 in 2023 to promote international efforts in this area, and in this regard commended the country’s 2050 Net Zero Strategy initiative.
This was the final communiqué of the 43rd session of the GCC Supreme Council, which opened and closed in Riyadh on Friday.
The Supreme Council thanked Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, for chairing the forty-third session of the meeting. The Supreme Council also appreciated Prince Mohammed’s eagerness and interest in highlighting the cooperation process of the GCC countries in all fields in his opening statement.
In his inaugural speech, Prince Mohammed reflected on the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed’s role in the UAE and his sincere efforts in promoting Council action, congratulating Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Great success for Hamad Al Thani at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
