ABU DHABI, 17th March, 2023 (WAM) — HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s representative in the Al Dhafra region, inaugurated the Mugharraq Port in Al Dhannah City, Al Dhafra region. Strategically located on the west coast of the emirate of Abu Dhabi, the port has been offering marine, oil and gas, general cargo, logistics support, bulk and bulk handling services since 2017.
Mugharraq Port was granted international port status by the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure’s International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS Code), enabling the port to develop relationships with international oil and gas companies and handle essential cargo including oil and petrochemicals . The port will receive its first international cargo in August 2022.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several senior officials including Falah Al Ahbabi, Chairman of AD Ports Group; Ahmed Matar Al Dhaheri, Chairman, Office of the Representative of the Rulers of the Al Dhafra Region; Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director General of Federal Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security; Nasser Mohammed Al Mansouri, Undersecretary, Regional Ruler’s Representative Office; Issa Hamad Bushhab, Adviser to the President of the Emirates Red Crescent; Rashed Lahej Al Mansouri, Director General, Abu Dhabi Customs; and Mohamed Juma, Managing Director and Group CEO, AD Ports Group Captain Al Shamisi.
Upon his arrival, Sheikh Hamdan was briefed on the Mughalag Port facility and its expansion activities.
During the inauguration, Sheikh Hamdan was briefed on notable projects in the Al Dhafra region, including the development of the ports of Sila, Fiyay and Al Dhannah, and new offshore operations on Al Fiyay Island. These projects are part of the Al Dhafra area development plan implemented by AD Ports Group under the supervision of Sheikh Hamdan.
HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed commended AD Ports Group’s efforts in developing a world-class economic and business infrastructure to underpin Abu Dhabi’s preeminence, underscoring the wise leadership’s support for development projects in the Al Dhafra area as its Of strategic importance to the UAE.
