Emirates News Agency – MAKTABA to participate in UAE Innovation 2023

ABU DHABI, 9th February, 2023 (WAM) — MAKTABA, Department of Library Management, Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism, DCT Abu Dhabi, will organize 100 events, workshops and seminars throughout the month of February to mark the UAE Innovation Month (UAE Innovation 2023).

MAKTABA’s activities aim to provide participants, especially youth and students, with knowledge and tools to empower them to use innovation as a work and life skill. The program covers a wide range of fields, including technology, science, programming, robotics and artificial intelligence.

Shaikha Al Mehairi, Director of Library Management Department, Culture Sector, DCT Abu Dhabi, said: “The UAE sees innovation as a cornerstone of development and UAE Innovation Month is a time when MAKTABA can offer a variety of programs to unleash the creativity of participants and perfect their innovation capabilities. , and develop their critical and analytical thinking skills in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).”

Fatima Al Tamimi, Library Section Chief, Library Management Section, Culture Department, Library Management, DCT Abu Dhabi, said: “Knowledge is the main driver of innovation. Therefore, we are keen to turn the MAKTABA branch into a gateway for knowledge and contribute to its dissemination among students. Contribute to innovative thinking. We continually design programs to enhance the skills and creativity of future generations.”

As part of MAKTABA’s program during UAE Innovate 2023, the Al Wathba Library will host the ‘Emirati Inventors Exhibition’, which aims to showcase ideas developed by the country’s youth and highlight the UAE’s efforts in the development of a culture of innovation both socially and economically.

As climate change becomes a topic of global concern, MAKTABA will host a conference on “The Role of Innovation in Addressing Climate Change” on February 15th. The event will cover key trends and negative impacts of climate change, the UAE’s response to the issue – including the UAE’s strategic initiative to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 – and the added value of innovation in addressing climate change.

All branches of MAKTABA (Al Bahia Library, Al Marfa Library, Al Wathba Library, Khalifa Park Library and Zayed Central Library) will host evening progressive study programmes, as well as regular workshops and seminars covering 23 topics meeting. These include but are not limited to shape design, 3D printing, aircraft flight mechanics, automobile manufacturing, prosthetics manufacturing, building smart water irrigation systems, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence.
