ABU DHABI, 19th December, 2022 (WAM) — His Excellency Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister in the Presidency and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the UAE Talent Competitiveness Council, launched the The first round of “Nafes Award” 2022-2023.
The award recognizes private sector institutions that have excelled in employing UAE nationals and promoting active competition in the field of Emiratisation. The award also recognizes outstanding Emiratis in the private sector.
The Nafis Prize was launched a year after the launch of the Nafis programme, which was launched as part of the “Project 50” to be a driving force for the development of the national economy.
Taking the opportunity, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed highlighted the importance of Nafis’ role in highlighting the benefits of working in the private sector in its first year since its launch, while encouraging UAE nationals to seek professional opportunities within the private sector. This helps to strengthen their presence as an influential workforce, as well as to promote the advancement of this vital sector and enhance its role in promoting the country’s economic development.
He also affirmed that the UAE leadership sees youth as the real wealth of the country and therefore, aims to realize their dreams and aspirations, in addition to providing them with a decent life suitable for them.
He also said that the UAE government is keen to achieve the stated goal of Emiratisation in the private sector and implement the leadership’s directives by recognizing institutions that have achieved the goal of Emiratisation, as well as outstanding Emirati talent in the private sector.
Dr Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, said: “The award reflects the UAE leadership’s support for the success of the emirate’s policies and is another step forward in advancing private sector Emiratisation efforts. Private Sector Engagement in Nafis and Emiratisation Documentation Crucial to the development of the UAE.”
“The award will encourage companies to increase their emiratization rate, and on the other hand, it encourages UAE nationals to join the private sector and improve their skills and capabilities, and contribute to the consolidation of the national economy,” he added.
Ghannam Al Mazrouei, Secretary-General of the UAE Talent Competitiveness Council, said the Nafis Awards, sponsored by HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, will highlight successes in three main categories that align with the aspirations of the leadership and support the UAE’s efforts to empower the UAE talent to fill job vacancies in various sectors and fields in the private sector.
“This award is a tribute to the tremendous efforts of the private sector towards the goal of Emiratisation. This in turn enables nationals to thrive and contribute to achieving economic growth. The award also highlights the value of UAE nationals working in the private sector Successfully, they can prove themselves to be a significant and effective force capable of bringing about positive change in various sectors of the economy,” he added.
Award category
The committee works with the Sheikh Khalifa Government Excellence Initiative to ensure that award categories, criteria and evaluation mechanisms are in line with government directives and international best practice. This step will guarantee the governance of the evaluation process, promoting the concept of institutional and individual excellence when it comes to the task of emiratization and enhancing the performance of nationals in various areas of the private sector. As such, the award will consist of three main categories: the first for private companies, the second for individuals and the third for strategic partners of the UAE Talent Competitiveness Council.
The first category includes private companies registered on the Nafis platform that have achieved the goal of emiratization according to the following subcategories: large companies with 1,000 employees and above; medium-sized companies with 500-999 employees and companies with less than 499 employees Small companies.
The mechanism for selecting the winning companies will be fully automated through a performance management system that will be determined based on the percentage of achieved emiratization targets based on criteria set by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. Companies do not need to submit any documents or complete a nomination application.
The second category is for individuals and includes the following professional categories: nursing jobs, medical jobs, financial jobs, legal jobs, retail jobs, programming jobs, supervisory/leadership jobs, administrative jobs, professional jobs and trainees registered in Nafis’ apprenticeship scheme . All UAE private sector employees are welcome to participate through the website (www.nafis.gov.ae) where they can complete a nomination application form and attach the required documents. The applications will be assessed by a jury accredited by the Sheikh Khalifa Government’s Excellence Initiative. The criteria for selecting the winners are defined around 3 main factors: performance and continuous learning, adaptation and active citizenship, results and achievement.
The third category, for strategic partners, will recognize the Council’s government and semi-government partners for their efforts and contributions towards realizing the Council’s vision for Emiratisation.
Winners will be announced in the first quarter of 2023.
