ABU DHABI, 3rd October, 2022 (WAM) — Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DoH) has been announced as a member of the Federation of Arab Hospitals, an independent non-profit organization serving the healthcare system in the Arab region .
The announcement came as a respected delegation representing the Federation visited the Ministry of Health to learn more about Abu Dhabi’s pioneering healthcare model.
DoH Chairman Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Hamed was awarded the Gold Key, the highest honour awarded by the Federation of Arab Hospitals, for his outstanding efforts in leading Abu Dhabi’s exceptional healthcare workforce. In addition, the visit also saw the appointment of Hind Mubarak Al Zaabi, Executive Director of the Medical Facilities Division of the Ministry of Health, to the Board of Directors of the Federation of Arab Hospitals.
The visit saw the presence of high-level officials including Professor Tawfik Khoja, Secretary General of the Federation of Arab Hospitals, Fadi Alama, Deputy Director, President of the Federation of Arab Hospitals, Alice Yammine Boueiz, CEO of the Federation of Arab Hospitals, and Executive Director of the Federation of Arab Hospitals. During the visit, the delegation visited various healthcare facilities in the UAE, including the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi (CCAD) and Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City, to brief them on some of the most prominent projects and initiatives in the Abu Dhabi healthcare ecosystem, such as As a centralized patient health information system Malaffi and the Muashir – Abu Dhabi Healthcare Quality Index, it is a quality framework that promotes the sustainability and effectiveness of care to enhance the patient experience.
Commenting on DoH’s joining the federation, Al Hamed said: “We are proud to be a member of the prestigious Arab Hospital Federation – we look forward to contributing to their effective efforts in promoting the healthcare ecosystem in the Arab region. Through this membership, we seek to share Abu Dhabi’s ground-breaking healthcare model with our peers across the industry – a result of our continued invaluable guidance and support from the UAE’s wise leadership as they prioritize the health of our populations and safety. The Golden Key Award is considered the highest honor awarded by the Federation of Arab Hospitals. It is usually awarded to Arab healthcare authorities and individuals in recognition of their efforts and contributions to the healthcare sector in the region. The award aims to reveal those organizations and individuals who serve the healthcare industry with great dedication, sincerity and integrity.
Alice Yammine Boueiz said the appointment of Hind Mubarak Al Zaabi to the Federation’s Board of Directors is a testament to the high status and success of Emirati women.
