Emirates News Agency – Singapore embassy presents diverse collection of DCT Library in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI, 6th January, 2023 (WAM) — The Singapore Embassy in the UAE has announced that the embassy and the National Library Board of Singapore have presented a specially curated set of books to the library of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism – ABU DHABI( DCT Abu Dhabi).
The move is in line with efforts by both parties to further strengthen cultural ties, training and educational exchanges between Abu Dhabi and Singapore.
On the occasion, Singapore’s Ambassador to the UAE, Kamal R Vaswani, presented a gift of books to Saood Al Hosani, Deputy Minister of Commerce of Abu Dhabi. With this initiative, the Singapore Embassy aims to expand cultural exchanges with the emirate of Abu Dhabi.
“The collection includes a wide range of books and publications introducing Singapore to Emirati readers, covering topics such as governance, economic development, foreign policy and history. Showcasing the softer side of Singapore, there are other collections on photography, design and architecture, and on Singapore Books on food, which is an important part of Singapore’s multicultural identity.
Ambassador Vaswani explained that the gift was “another weave in the larger people-to-people relationship between the two countries”.Ambassador Vaswani emphasized that Singapore looks forward to strengthening exchanges with the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture, which is doing great work to enhance the cultural landscape
He added: “Going forward, we want to strengthen the personal connections between young people. To this end, we have included a selection of children’s books to spark interest in Singapore. I look forward to seeing these books placed in wonderful Abu Dhabi ​​Libraries. This gift also supports Abu Dhabi’s ongoing efforts to promote a culture of reading and continuous learning.”
Shaikha Al Muhairi, Director of Library Management at DCT Abu Dhabi, praised the cultural initiative, which is a testament to the integration and cooperation of civilizations. “At DCT Abu Dhabi, we are passionate about working with cultural institutions around the world in ways that promote Abu Dhabi’s message of civilization and reflect the diversity and vibrancy of its cultural scene.”
