Emirates News Agency – UAE approaches 2023 differently


UAE, 31st December, 2022 (WAM) — 2023 is warmly welcomed in the UAE. Tonight’s New Year’s Eve celebrations kicked off a huge extravaganza across the UAE, including multiple world record bids, fireworks at dozens of locations, drone shows and celebrity concerts.

For the first time since the pandemic, revelers are ringing in 2023 without Covid-related restrictions. The parties celebrated the end of a significant year for the nation with record-breaking fireworks displays.

A 40-minute fireworks display in Abu Dhabi attempted to break three records in terms of numbers, timing and formations. A massive drone show using more than 3,000 drones lights up the skies over Al Wathba.
In Dubai, huge crowds gathered in the city center to watch the spectacular Burj Khalifa fireworks display. Sharjah ushers in the New Year 2023 with a fireworks display and Al Majaz waterfront show.

The skies over Ajman Corniche were lit up with a spectacular firework display, while Ras Al Khaimah broke its own record with a 12-minute display! In Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain, people take to the streets for spectacular performances and stunning weather.
