Baku, 2nd July, 2022 (WAM) — Naama Abdullah Al Sharhan, Second Deputy Speaker of the Federal National Assembly (FNC), said the UAE believes that spreading the values ​​of tolerance and promoting intercultural dialogue remain key international humanitarian principles in the fight against violence in the world everywhere.
Al Sharhan, who made the statement of the UAE parliamentary sector at the NAM Parliamentary Network Baku meeting in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku, stressed the need to apply the NAM principle of resolving international disputes through peaceful means.
She added that parliamentary diplomacy can play an important role in properly handling international relations, establishing international stability, peace and security, and achieving sustainable development.
The conference, held from 30 June to 2 July, on the theme “Promoting the role of parliaments in promoting global peace and sustainable development”, adopted the Statutes of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network.
The chairman and three vice-chairmen of the parliamentary network were elected, and its logo and flag were approved.
The Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network meeting in the Baku Declaration stressed the importance of the role of the Non-Aligned Movement and the principles on which it is based, in addressing new and ongoing challenges to the maintenance of peace, security and sustainable development, expressing the The network’s strong commitment to the goals and principles of the Non-Aligned Movement.
The Baku Declaration addresses the NAM’s lofty goals of supporting sustainable development and peaceful coexistence among nations, noting the main role the NAM plays in joint efforts to combat the coronavirus and overcome its negative consequences.
