Emirates News Agency – UAE tops medal table on first day of UAE National Professional Championships on Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Professional Tour in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI, 3rd September, 2022 (WAM) — The UAE welcomes the United Arab Emirates on Saturday at the Jiu-Jitsu Arena in Abu Dhabi by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation (UAEJJF) and Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Professional (AJP) at the Jiu-Jitsu Arena in Abu Dhabi It was a colourful start, with impressive performances from players from different countries, clubs and academies.

The competition draws hundreds of players from more than 50 countries and is known for the large crowds that flock to the Jiu-Jitsu arena to support their favorite players in the Junior, Junior and Masters events.

The UAE National Professional Championship is the fourth of five rounds of AJP events held across the country. The first day of the competition saw Commando Group take first place, while Palms Sports took second place and AFNT took third place. In terms of country rankings, Colombia and Brazil took the second and third place respectively.

“The strong presence of elite clubs and academies from the UAE and other countries enriches the game and is in line with the UAE JJF’s vision to promote sport, expand the participant base and create an ideal environment for championship development,” said Youssef Abdullah Al Batran, UAEJJF Member of the board.

“With hundreds of men and women from over 50 countries, the UAE National Professional Team is a miniature version of the World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championships in Abu Dhabi. The crowd cheering for the winner underscores that Jiu-Jitsu is one of the fastest growing in the world and region sports.”

Tariq Al Bahri, General Manager of AJP, said: “The prestigious international status of our tournaments offers sports fans around the world the opportunity to participate and maintain their level and prepare for the various competitions to come. One of the The most important takeaway from the AJP Championship is that it paves the way for a group of future stars who will represent the mainstay of the national team.”

Ali Al Tunaiji, the 84kg yellow belt of the Al Jazira club who won the junior champion, expressed his great joy on the podium, “We were able to overcome the challenge and win the gold medal in the tough and hard race because of our confidence in the championship. Full preparation and continuous training. I will continue to work a lot for future competitions, especially the Vice Presidents Cup and Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championships,” he said.

“My goal is very clear, the next stage is to prepare for the upcoming World Championships. I have now scored 1000. I hope I can More medals at the annual World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championships in Abu Dhabi.”

UAE national team players have excelled in the Masters, winning multiple gold medals. Salem Al Asmar (69kg), Ibrahim Al Hammadi (94kg) and Shabab Al Ahli Club’s Hamid Al Balushi (120kg) from AFNT Academy were Saturday’s winners. “I am very happy that I was able to win a medal and podium in the Masters 2 competition, especially since winning this particular category requires a lot of experience, patience and perseverance,” said Al Balushi.

Tournament activities will continue tomorrow, including both amateur and professional competitions.
