Emirates News Agency – Women’s competition marks Day 2 of Challenge Jiu-Jitsu Festival, Al Jazira takes first place

ABU DHABI, 27th May, 2023 (WAM) — The Challenge Jiu-Jitsu Festival witnessed intense performances on Saturday, the second day of the event, with Al Jazira Club topping the medal table, showcasing the extraordinary skills of girls everywhere, babies, teenagers , Department of Adolescents and Youth.

In the competition held at Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City, Palm Sports-777 Team and Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club also performed well, winning the runner-up and third place respectively.

The competition was fierce, the athletes were highly skilled, and the stands were packed with excitement, cheering for the favorite players. The event also saw families gather in the arena to take part in the ‘festive’ atmosphere and soak up the range of entertaining and engaging activities offered alongside the main event.

Abdel Moneim Al Hashemi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, Chairman of the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Federation, and Senior Vice-Chairman of the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation attended the competition; Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice-Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, and representatives from federations, clubs and participating academies Several officials.

UAEJJF board member Mansour Al Dhaheri hailed the tournament’s success and stressed that dedicating a day to the girls during the Challenge Championship reflects the importance of the tournament on the federation’s agenda this season.

He said: “The role of the family in supporting, motivating and encouraging children to participate in Jiu-Jitsu is rooted in the understanding that the sport helps refine and develop their personalities. Jiu-Jitsu equips young practitioners with the necessary skills to develop with confidence. Face the challenge with responsibility and responsibility. The federation’s dedicated programs and strategic initiatives are designed to cater to a younger cohort, giving them a solid foundation for a career in sport and full professionalization.”

“Challenge Jiu-Jitsu Festival is more than just a regular tournament; it is an integrated sporting and community experience for a new generation of athletes and families. The Challenge Festival is where families from different parts of the country come together to enjoy an event suitable for all members of the family ideal platform,” Al Dhaheri added.

Elsewhere, Deema Alhammadi from Yass School, who won gold in the Infant/White/22kg category, said: “I’m really excited about my victory and I’m looking forward to celebrating with my family by playing fun games all day long. I Having a great passion for Jiu-Jitsu, I will proudly wear my medals to school to share my achievements with my classmates. I am so happy to win the money and I plan to use it to buy things I love.”

Maryah Reiter from Brazil, Palms Sports – Team 777, who won gold in the baby/yellow/32kg category, expressed her excitement, saying: “I am very happy to have won gold. My father has always believed in my skills and encouraged me to compete. I have a strong passion for the sport and I put in an hour of training every day, even on vacation. I am determined to keep competing because in addition to my love of Jiu-Jitsu, I Also eager to raise enough money to fulfill my dream of owning a pet that I love.”

Maryam Alahmed from Yas School, who won bronze in the baby/white/25kg category, shared her aspirations, saying: “My dream is to follow in the footsteps of Shamma Al-Kalbani and represent the national team one day. Although I Understand the importance of focusing on your studies but I have found Jiu-Jitsu to be an incredible sport that empowers us. Attending the festival was a great experience and I had a great time with my friends in the arena time.”
