Emirates SkyCargo, the cargo arm of Emirates Airlines, and Emirates Post Group (EPG) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Dubai Airshow. According to the terms of the memorandum of understanding, the two entities will jointly develop an end-to-end global logistics platform for e-commerce, focusing on serving the Middle East, Africa and West Asia markets. This will be the first collaboration between an air cargo carrier and a national postal operator, combining Emirates SkyCargo’s global network and capacity advantages with EPG’s “Emirates Post” business’s last-mile delivery expertise and partnership.
The partnership will rely on Dubai’s advantages as a global logistics hub and will encourage e-commerce companies to conduct business in the city, which is ideally positioned as a gateway to major consumer markets. An 8-hour flight from Dubai can cover nearly two-thirds of the world’s population, which is an attractive proposal for e-commerce companies that want to deliver goods to customers in the shortest possible time.
