It might look like a normal car on the road, but it’s fitted with special lenses that constantly monitor for road violations, as well as modules and features that can get you in trouble at the slightest violation. Equipped with technology developed by Abu Dhabi-based technology company Tatweer, the revolutionary vehicle is currently being showcased at the Dubai World Police Summit at the World Trade Centre. The vehicle is also equipped with cameras and sensors that can detect speed, sudden turns, car details, wanted vehicles, and even people.

“It’s an undercover vehicle and we’ve installed a technological device in the front, which is a custom integrated solution that assists and enhances surveillance, road safety, law enforcement and crime prevention,” said Anas Al Zghoul, Head of Research and Development. Tuttville MEA.

“The device, or module, can be molded into any size and shape that fits on the bumper of a car make and model,” Zghoul added.

Zghoul explained that the vehicle is equipped with a system that “integrates state-of-the-art automatic number plate recognition cameras, CCTV surveillance, speed detection, [a] Mobile apps and web apps for law enforcement innovations—together they make a whole ecosystem,” Zghoul said.

He further added that the system uses standard integration protocols and APIs so that the interaction between different devices and legacy systems can be extended with additional functions and modules in the future.

The company has developed this comprehensive, cutting-edge subsystem architecture for use by vehicle occupants through a feature-rich touchscreen interface.

“The car has seven cameras with edge processing in the rear, vehicle cameras on the sides and front, [a] Face recognition camera on [te] Speed detection cameras on the inner windshield and bumper. “

The in-vehicle system provides a variety of functions, including:

face recognition

Real-time, high-precision, simultaneous multi-face detection and recognition to identify wanted criminals near patrols.

speed enforcement

Multi-lane coverage with wide-range cameras to detect, classify and track vehicles in up to five lanes to the left and two lanes to the right. Trigger the ANPR camera in time.

multi-user access

Multiple officers can simultaneously access in-vehicle system sessions with the option to select the primary patrolling officer. This Principal Officer will document all actions taken in response to alerts and violations.

command and control center

Back-office systems allow operators to remotely access various functions embedded in on-board systems from a command and control center. This ensures the smooth running and management of surveillance and criminal detection operations.

Violation detection

The system’s cameras automatically detect all violations and alarms on patrol in various lighting conditions and are reflected in the real-time dashboard.

suspected vehicle

With the on-board system, officers can add or flag suspicious vehicles and ask the central office system to consider that particular vehicle as a wanted vehicle based on its records or behavior.

real-time tracking

The system provides real-time GIS-based visualization of the vehicle’s position, which is sent to command and control applications.

The vehicle does the following:

  • Audit trails and logs
  • Real-time insight into patrol activity
  • In-vehicle health checks and monitoring
  • Data and video archives with search function
  • Instant alerts from in-vehicle systems
  • Access published violations with GIS-based heatmaps
  • Broadcast a message to the vehicle system
  • Comprehensive search with various filters and sorting functions
