Ensemble, assemble! ‘Everything’ Cast Celebrates SAG Victory

[ad_1]

Angel – All of a sudden, they were everywhere.

After picking up their biggest win yet in a season full of them — Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Ensemble Along with three of the four solo films at the SAG Awards – the cast of “Everything at the Same Time” was supposed to head backstage as a team and were ushered through the kitchen at LA’s Fairmont Century Plaza into an area swarming cameras await the winner.

But like the multiple versions of the film’s multiverse characters, the film has become a favorite for Best Picture at the Oscars, with actors — including the Best Actress winner Michelle YeohBest Supporting Actor Winner Ke Huiquan and best supporting actress winner Jamie Lee Curtis – Scattered here and there, some back to the auditorium, some to the bathroom, some who knows where.

Among top performers, only 94 james hong Appearing backstage, an Associated Press reporter was waiting to join them on the victory lap. Hong, a senior member, delivered the final speech of the evening and made the most of the opportunity, detailing his 70 years as a member of the acting guild.

“I hope I can come back when I’m 100!” Hong said to end his speech.

Andy and Brian Le, who play martial artists in the film, were so gentle that they each took Hong by the arm and helped him down a makeshift staircase at the back of the stage and into a hallway.

Mark Wahlberg, who had just handed out the top award of the night to the cast, greeted Hung.

“I just wanted to say hello,” Wahlberg said with a laugh. “You’re such a legend. You brought the house down.”

Hong, Le and Le walked slowly through the kitchen and back to the spotlighted media room, where actor Tallie Medel was waiting for them.

Curtis, who beat Angela Bassett for the title in her category, followed, holding a blue stone SAG figurine and wearing a red gown.

“Okay, here I am, sorry, sorry, I’m going to pee!” she said.

Jenny Slate, like Harry Shum Jr, who plays Yeoh’s laundromat customer-turned-enemy-fighting Debbie the Dog mom, emerges from another hallway.

Then Yeoh bursts out a door from the ballroom, like a robed version of one of the many action heroes she’s played over the decades.

It was followed by Chun, who played several incarnations of her husband in the film.

“It’s all here!” Quan yelled as he gleefully jumped into his companions.

Photographers started snapping pictures, but Curtis couldn’t shoot until the entire ensemble was assembled. stephanie xuShe, who played Young’s daughter and villain in the film and was also nominated in the Curtis category, is not yet in the cast.

“Wait, wait, wait for Stephanie to come!” Curtis said. She pointed to the people taking pictures and said: You, put down the camera, you, put down the camera. Not without Stephanie. ”

While waiting, they noticed Brendan Fraser, who won Best Actor for “The Whale,” stood nearby with his trophy, looking overwhelmed. Several people walked over to celebrate him.

“I’m so happy to see you have this beautiful moment,” Slate told him.

Quan reached out and hugged the much older Fraser warmly.

“You made me cry again!” Fraser told Quan, who had given a tearful speech about becoming the first Asian actor to win the award.

Kwon, like Frazier, is making a dramatic comeback after a long hiatus in Hollywood and will likely get another chance at the Oscars on March 12.

after winning the top prize directors association and Producers Guild It would be a shocker if any film other than Nowhere won best picture at the Oscars.

When Xu finally appeared, Curtis told the cameramen not to shoot.

The cast shouted for Fraser to join them for a photo. Hesitant at first, he gives in and joins them, his eyes lighting up. “We did it!” he said, smiling for the camera.

The group has won so many awards it’s hard to keep track of them all.

“I dropped one, but it was lost,” Curtis said.

“Wait, Michelle has two!” someone yelled.

Quan, Yeoh and Curtis then took a group photo with their trophies in hand. Curtis handed one to Hong, who pretended not to be able to bear its weight, and hugged the statue like a baby.

Daniel Scheinert, who co-directed with Daniel Kwan, watched from the sidelines, out of frame, allowing his actors to take the stage for the night.

Seeing Scheinert, Yeoh rushed over and hugged him. Several photographers came to the duo. Scheinert didn’t stop them, pointing out that he played a certain type of actor in his films.

“I had a cameo,” he said. “It’s important.”
