A spokesman for the company announced that Adler died Wednesday at his Los Angeles home in what he described as a brief illness.

Adler, who joined what was then Lichter Grossman & Nichols in 1997, five years after its founding, remained an “absolutely integral part” of the company until his retirement in 2019, the company said.

“Throughout his career, he has been a fearless and tenacious advocate for his clients, including some of the film and television industry’s best-known actors, writers, directors and producers,” it noted. “His clients mean the world to him.

“He has been a great lawyer and true mentor to many lawyers in our firm and the larger entertainment legal community over the years. He has terrible handwriting and terrible jokes. Most importantly, Mike is a man – a real kind and generous companions and friends.”

After graduating from UCLA Law School and clerking for California Supreme Court Justice Mathew Tobriner and US District Judge William Enright, Adler was a partner at Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp before joining Lichter Grossman & Nichols.
