theater: Argenta “Producer”

Judy Kohn Tenenbaum Argenta Community Theater Stage “Producer” (music and lyrics by Mel Brooks, book by Brooks and Thomas Meehan, based on Brooks’ 1968 film of the same name), opens Wednesday at the theater at 405 Main Street, North Little Rock. Showings are Tuesday-Saturday at 7:30pm and Sunday 2pm until March 4th. This production contains adult humor and references, and the theater does not recommend viewing for younger audiences. One-time king of Broadway producers Max Bialystoke (P. Jay Clarke) is now reduced to wringing pennies from little old ladies, while timid accountant Leo Bloom (Michael Clarke) Lutcher) accidentally discover that making a flop can make them richer trying to find the worst show, worst director, and worst actor to create the best flop. As it turns out, they did their job too well—and, as a result, “Hitler’s Spring” was a huge success.

TheaterSquared in Fayetteville extends “Golden Convenience” Seven performances directed by Ins Choi Tuesday through Friday at 7:30pm, Saturday at 7:30pm, Sunday at 2pm through February 26 at the West Theater at 477 W. Season one

Little Rock Actors Theater Six plays and musicals will be presented in their first full season, starting with William Shakespeare’s As You Like It, adapted and directed by the theater’s artistic director of productions, Mark A. Burbank, and co-produced with Henderson State University , April 6-9 at the University of Arkadelphia.

March 11 is Arkansas’ deadline to submit entries for second annual Hot Springs Sister Cities Program Arkansas Cherry Blossom Festival Haiku Competition, divided into two categories: adults and 18 years old and under. Art Summer Camp

The Department of Art and Design at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock will host “Road to Art 2023”, Residential Summer Intensive Arts Camp for Junior and Senior students, June 17-24. Admission, all art materials, meals, lodging and evening events are free thanks to funding from the Windgate Foundation. Students will live in on-campus dormitories with professional accommodation consultants. The application deadline is March; applicants must submit a letter of recommendation from a visual arts teacher and a digital portfolio containing at least five original images of their work.
