Entertainment on the Peninsula this weekend

The North Olympic Peninsula offers a variety of entertainment this weekend.

First Friday Art Walk Tonight at Sequim from 5 to 8. See SequimArtWalk.com for venues and information.

Each art walk has a color theme. The color theme for the Friday Art Walk is white and the entire visible spectrum.

bookworm” will begin tonight at the Olympic Theater Arts and run until June 18th.

Shows are Friday and Saturday at 7pm and Sunday at 2pm at the theater at 41 N. Sequim Ave. Tickets are $20 per ticket or $15 for students. Tickets are available at olympictheatrearts.org.

The two-act, seven-act drama revolves around Willum Cubbert, an aspiring architect in Terre Haute, Indiana, and a former American he never met but who saved his life after he was seriously injured in Vietnam. The soldiers come to visit him. Willam is delighted when Rick Steadman unexpectedly shows up at his apartment, but Steadman’s clumsy demeanor and misbehavior turn the occasion into a mess.

• “Fifties” Tonight and Saturday will be performed by the Olympic Peninsula Academy drama class.

The musical comedy will have three shows (7pm tonight, 1:30pm and 7pm Saturday) at the Sequim High School Auditorium at 533 N. Sequim Ave.

The play is free, although the school asks for a suggested donation of $5 to fund future play productions.

• Bazrogowski Tonight at the Old Distillery Inn, 310 Hadlock Bay Road, Hadlock Harbour, 5-7pm. No service charge.

• Rain Shadow Chorus This weekend will feature two performances of its spring concert “Lullaby for the Seals.”

Shows are at the Lutheran Church of the Savior, 45 Redeemer Way, Chimakum, Saturday at 7pm and Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, 1111 Franklin Street, Port Townsend, at 3pm.

Tickets for the show will be available at the door. Suggested donation of $20 for adults and $10 for students.

Artistic director Laurie de Leonne promises to combine classical pieces with new composers in one evening. For example, the choir will open and close the concert with two arrangements of “Sure on this Shining Night”.

• Bonsai Exhibition More than 70 trees of various types and sizes are scheduled to be showcased at the Pioneer Memorial Park Clubhouse at 387 E. Washington St on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Members of the Dungeness Bonsai Society have cultivated their hobby for years, and the culmination of it so far can be seen in this free 45th annual exhibit.

• Martin Souza The show will be at the Spirits Bar and Grill, The Old Distillery Hotel, 310 Hadlock Bay Road, Hadlock Port, Saturday from 5pm to 7pm. No service charge.

• Paradise Island Flower Show Saturday 1pm-5pm will be hosted by the Nordland Garden Club.

The public is invited to attend a free show at the clubhouse at 320 Garden Club Road.

Garden Club judges will evaluate entries in horticulture, flower arrangement design, botanical art and photography.

Visitors can vote for the People’s Choice Awards in gardening and design.

• Chimacum Farmers Market celebrated the start of its 15th season on Sunday.

It will be open on the grass at Chimacum Corner Farmstand, 9122 Rhody Drive, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

An opening cord-cutting ceremony, children’s activities, live music and vendors are planned.

• “The food we eat”Presented by the Climate Action Team of the Olympic Unitarian Universalist Fellowship on Sunday at 12.15pm.

The free public forum is part of a monthly series in Fraternity Hall, 1033 N. Barr Road.

Sunday’s forum will discuss local organic food sources and feature a short film about the impact of factory-farmed meat on climate change.

Demos are expected to last 45 minutes to an hour, including time for questions.
