UB40 is an English reggae and pop band formed in Birmingham, England in December 1978. The group has over 50 singles on the UK Singles Chart and has also achieved considerable international success. They were nominated for four Grammy Awards for Best Reggae Album and were nominated for Best British Group at the Brit Awards in 1984. UB40 has sold over 70 million records worldwide.
UB40 became one of the biggest names in pop music in the 1980s and ’90s with hits like “Red Wine” and “Can’t Help Falling in Love with You.” The name ‘UB40’ was chosen based on the timecards issued by the UK government’s Employment Department to people applying for unemployment benefits. UB40 stands for Unemployment Benefit, Form 40.
The Wailers have rewritten the history books with Bob Marley’s band, and today, led by leader Al Anderson, they ignite the flames of the past and light the way forward. Both The Wailers and UB40 owe their worldwide attention and success to the entire reggae genre.
Maxi Priest combined a reggae sound with R&B for hits like “Close to You,” while Big Mountain’s cover of “Baby, I Love Your Way” brought a sun-drenched sound to the masses .
The gates open at 3pm and the show starts at 4pm.
