Entertainment venue brings food, drink and playground to Future Champions Sports Complex – WLDS

[ad_1]

Jacksonville’s newest entertainment venue is now open in the city’s northwest corner, offering weary baseball and softball parents a respite.

Last night there was an official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newest addition to the Future Champions Sports Complex. Adam and Kristin Jamison join their partners and many family and friends to name the new Future Champions entertainment venue at the former Lenz facility on West Walnut Street.

The 11,000-square-foot complex features bars and restaurants, as well as a playground with golf simulators, video games and more. Kristin Jamison said that since the facility reopened after the Covid-19 pandemic, the ownership group has worked hard to bring the facility to a level where it can be truly competitive in the stadium market.

“The opening of this recreation center has been key to our ability to attract traveling groups to our region and even become a great place for people in the community to come and relax, eat, drink and play with their kids.

It was announced in March that Jacksonville School District 117 is purchasing the Future Swings Training Center property on West Moreton Avenue and will move into the Future Champions Sports Complex.

Adam Jamieson said the trade deadline is June 1 and the training facility will open shortly thereafter. “We’ve got the equipment and the new turf. A lot of great things are going to come out of the future swing program and it’s kind of tied to future champions now.

I feel like it could really be a one stop shop. Parents can send their kids to class, and now they can come in and prepare dinner, because after their son or daughter is done cooking, they can come up and get some food, and then watch the activity on the field and on the live stream inside. So not many places have that option. “

Kristin Jamison said the idea to turn the complex into a complete entertainment venue came from watching players and parents run to their cars whenever it rained during games to take shelter.

Now the facility can provide safety and comfort for guests in a number of ways, she said. Not only do visitors get cover at recreational venues, but they also have an agreement with Jacksonville Memorial Hospital to provide storm shelter in more severe weather scenarios, she said.

Kristin Jamison said the field is open not only for baseball players, but also for lunch Tuesday through Sunday and dinner seven days a week. She said they are still exploring new menu items, including a wider variety of sandwiches, and their macaroni and cheese with pulled pork is already popular. With the new indoor facility, there will also be weekly steak nights with different specials, she said.

Future Champions Entertainment is located at 5 Kelley Drive, across the street from the baseball field and Jacksonville Memorial Hospital.
