Etihad Airways Inaugurates First Flight from New UAE Airport Terminal

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the UAE, has achieved a significant milestone by conducting the first commercial flight from the highly-anticipated Terminal A at Abu Dhabi International Airport.

Inaugural Flight to New Delhi

Etihad flight EY224, bound for New Delhi from Abu Dhabi, took off from Terminal A at 2:35 pm. The flight was operated using one of Etihad’s Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, with 359 passengers on board.

A Historic Journey: Etihad Airways

This event marked a historic moment as passengers experienced the seamless check-in process at Terminal A for the first time.

Inaugural Guests at the Etihad Lounges

To commemorate this occasion, all passengers, whether in Economy or Business class, had the unique opportunity to be the inaugural guests at the new flagship Etihad Lounges located across three floors in Terminal A.

A Grand Celebration

After enjoying a special menu at the Etihad Lounge, passengers proceeded to Gate C27, where themed decorations and a photo booth awaited to capture the historic moment.

Official Inauguration Ceremony

The ceremonial flight was officially inaugurated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by distinguished guests, including members of Etihad and Abu Dhabi Airport Board, as well as leaders in the aviation industry.

CEO’s Perspective

Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad, expressed his excitement about this pivotal moment in Etihad’s history. He congratulated the Abu Dhabi leadership for creating one of the world’s most spectacular airports.

A Major Milestone

Elena Sorlini, Managing Director and Interim CEO at Abu Dhabi Airports, emphasized the historic nature of this moment for Abu Dhabi International Airport, its partners at Etihad Airways, and the emirate as a whole.

Enhanced Capacity and Facilities

Terminal A is a key element of Etihad’s growth strategy, offering the capability to handle up to 45 million passengers annually and connecting Abu Dhabi to 117 global destinations.

Premium Travel Experience

The terminal provides dedicated check-in counters for Etihad’s Economy passengers, along with exclusive areas for Business and First Class travelers to enjoy a premium experience. Guests can benefit from state-of-the-art biometric self-bag drop facilities for a swift check-in process.

Transition to Terminal A

Etihad will transition its flights to Terminal A in a phased approach starting from November 9, and by November 14, all Etihad flights will operate exclusively from Terminal A. Passengers are advised to verify their terminal information two days before their travel date for the most accurate information.
