Etihad Airways opens its 65th destination, maiden flight to Vienna

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, today launched its maiden flight to Vienna, the city of music. This is the first of the new twice-weekly routes between Abu Dhabi and the Austrian capital.

Flight EY147 took off from Abu Dhabi International Airport at 7:30 in the morning and is expected to land at Vienna Airport at around 11:20 this morning, where it will be welcomed by a traditional water cannon salute.

The new service will be operated on Thursday and Sunday using the most advanced Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, providing 28 business seats and 262 economy seats, entertainment systems, in-seat power and in-flight Wi-Fi-Fi connectivity.

Vienna is famous for its Baroque architecture, cafe culture and rich musical heritage. It is a 5-hour 50-minute flight from Abu Dhabi.

Passengers from the UAE have received all vaccinations for full immunization at least 14 days before arrival, including Sinopharm and Pfizer, and currently do not need to be quarantined in Austria or Abu Dhabi. Austria is on the green list.

All pilots and crew members on the flight to Vienna were vaccinated against COVID-19. Etihad Airways is the first airline in the world that 100% of all flight crew members are vaccinated against the coronavirus, and it is the first airline to require 100% of its passengers to undergo a negative PCR test before departure.

As with every Etihad flight, as part of a comprehensive plan to ensure the health of passengers at all stages of the journey, the Vienna Service is equipped with specially trained health ambassadors on board.
