Etihad Airways has started adding a weekly flight on its Abu Dhabi-Shanghai route.
Subject to regulatory approval, the airline will fly to Pudong International Airport (PVG) twice a week using Boeing 787 and 777 aircraft from next February
Combined with one weekly flight to Beijing and two weekly flights to Guangzhou, this will provide travelers with five weekly direct flights between Abu Dhabi and China.
Martin Drew, Senior Vice President, Global Sales and Cargo, Etihad Aviation Group, said: “Following the further easing of travel measures related to COVID-19, Etihad Airways is delighted to be adding flights to Passenger service in Shanghai.
“China is the most important market for Etihad and as one of the largest financial and economic centers in the country, Shanghai plays a vital role in our network. Etihad is committed to growing our business in China , and we look forward to welcoming even more travelers aboard our award-winning hospitality in the new year.”
Previously, Etihad Airways launched a direct flight between Abu Dhabi and Guangzhou in October, becoming the first international airline to operate long-distance passenger flights to China’s three major gateways since the outbreak.
Earlier this year, the airline operated its first scheduled international passenger flight in China and re-launched a scheduled international passenger flight to Beijing when the capital reopened to international direct flights in June, marking the airline’s strong presence in China. Another milestone.
