Etihad originally announced plans to fly from Abu Dhabi to Lisbon in Februaryit was revealed that the service will begin on July 2.

AeroRoutes is now citing a start date of June 18, which means there is so much demand that they can start service earlier.

Speaking at the launch of the route in February, Etihad Airways CEO Antonoaldo Neves said:

“We are delighted to launch flights to Portugal for the first time and offer our guests a convenient travel option to one of the most popular summer destinations in 2023”.

“As one of the oldest cities in Western Europe, the coastal city of Lisbon is a great entry point to explore the rest of the country, with its immaculate beaches, historic castles, great nightlife and hospitable people.

“Our new direct link will strengthen trade and tourism links between the UAE and Portugal, and we thank the Portuguese authorities for their support in our new air link.”

The document shows that by 2024, Etihad Airways will operate the same three weekly flights as in summer 2023.

EY063 will depart Abu Dhabi at 0235 local time and arrive in Lisbon at 0750 on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.

Return EY064 will leave Lisbon at 0910 and return to Abu Dhabi at 1935 on the same day.

The number of days per week will vary from summer 2024 to summer 2023, and this year, it will run on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays.

What remains clear is how confident the airlines are about the route that they’ve already planned for next year and haven’t even launched service yet.

That’s enough to clearly show just how successful the route has been this year.
