The UAE’s own astronaut, Sultan AlNeyadi, has once again reached out to space dwellers to show them how water looks differently in space.
The video, shared on Twitter, shows how water behaves differently in space.
In less than 2 minutes, AlNeyadi demonstrates how water floats in space in the form of droplets.
The video begins with the astronaut holding a bag of water, which he squeezes, releasing a large drop. AlNeyadi watched in amazement as a droplet shaped like a ball floated around.
When he smiles at the camera, his reflection can be seen in the sphere. Then, AlNeyadi raised his hand and touched the drop.
Immediately the ball stuck to his hand and began to resemble jelly. The astronaut then pulls up a towel and places it over the drop. Towels absorb water in an unnatural way.
AlNeyadi goes on to demonstrate how water does not fall or separate by wringing out a towel. Water tried to seep through his fingers, but it didn’t.
Last week, the much-loved astronaut posted a surprise video from space on the opening day of the UAE Climate Technology event in Abu Dhabi.
Floating aboard the International Space Station (ISS) in blue flight suits, AlNeyadi explained how the crew generates oxygen from the water to keep them alive there.
“If this can be replicated in space, it must also work on Earth,” he said, urging people on Earth to live sustainably.
