“As the challenges increase, our determination to work together to create a better future is getting higher,” said the UN Deputy Secretary-General.
The United Nations celebrated its 76th anniversary at Expo 2020 Dubai on Sunday, bringing the world together.
“As the challenges increase, our determination to work together to create a better future is also getting higher. The future explored at Expo 2020: fulfilling the promise of sustainable development goals for mankind and the planet,” UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Muhammad said at a ceremony held for the United Nations Day of Honor at a large-scale event.
Every October 24th is United Nations Day, marking the entry into force of the United Nations Charter in 1945. With the approval of its founding document, the Charter, the United Nations was formally established.
As part of the celebration, Mohammed attended the distinguished guests of the UAE government and the leadership of the World Expo.
“We commemorate 76 years of creating hope, uniting and working together to overcome common challenges. These challenges have increased and multiplied with the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, rising inequality and climate emergencies,” the United Nations The official said.
The official ceremony was held on the national stage of Al Wasl Dome, followed by a cultural performance by the UAE Youth Symphony Orchestra (EYSO).
Those attending the meeting included the United Nations Director-General of the Mah Nasser World Expo; Dena Assaf, the United Nations Coordinator in the UAE; members of the diplomatic community; and representatives of the national pavilion.
Assaf said: “The UAE has always been a supporter of the UN’s global, regional and local efforts. We are delighted to have the opportunity to celebrate this special day with the world during the 2020 Dubai Expo. This will only deepen our solidarity with the UAE government. Relationship because we will continue to work together to realize our shared vision of creating a better world for all.”

During his visit to the Expo, Muhammad also Met with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
Sheikh Abdullah and Mohammed discussed the prospects of joint cooperation and ways to strengthen and support projects in various fields.
They also reviewed a number of issues of common concern, including climate change and the importance of strengthening collective international action to mitigate the impact of climate change and finding solutions to improve global sustainability.
