If you read our “10 Things You Didn’t Know About Fauda But Really Should” (And if you haven’t, you really should!), you’ll know that this action-packed Hebrew-Arabic drama about Israeli counterterrorist commandos is a hit in Arab countries.
Now that season 4 debuts on Netflix in 190 countries on January 27, we have even more stats to show its popularity.
Fauda is the #1 Netflix show in Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates. It ranked second in Qatar and was among the top 10 Netflix shows in Turkey, Morocco and Jordan.
Israel has no diplomatic relations with Lebanon or Qatar.
Other countries that put Fauda in Netflix’s top 10 include Romania, the Czech Republic, Greece, India, Italy, Poland, the Netherlands, France, Kenya and Sri Lanka, as well as Hungary, where some episodes of the season were filmed.
in a interview “The magic of the show is that it wins over both sides of the conflict,” said Fauda co-founder and star Lior Raz, whose father is from Iraq and whose mother is from Algeria, in Tel Aviv, in collaboration with the UAE’s Khaleej Times.
Raz said that many Israelis told him that they felt sympathy for Palestinians for the first time after watching the show. That narrative is related, but they can still see it from the other side.”
Co-founder Avi Issacharoff told Army Radio that he hasn’t gotten used to Fauda’s success. “Even in season four, it still surprises me and Lior Raz every time,” he said.
