Festival of the Parks returns as part of Abu Dhabi Festival 2023

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: Abu Dhabi Music Festival’s annual Music in the Park returns at Umm Al Emarat Park Souk in Abu Dhabi on March 12-13, hosted by the Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation , with the theme “The Will to Evolve”. The two-day event features a host of entertaining and educational activities for the whole family, including concerts by Emirati star singer Ahmed Al Hossani and rising pianist Hamad Al Tayyi, as well as Emirati stand-up Show comedian Abz Ali and crowd favorites Sundeep Fernandes and Imah Dumagay.

As part of its aim to foster arts and culture to enrich communities, the Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation has partnered with the Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination and the Mohammed bin Rashid Center for Special Education to provide support for Determination to empower them through the arts. Ahmed Al Hosani – classical singer

Ahmed Al Hosani is a multi-talented Emirati artist. He has been a singer since the age of seven and is also a visual artist. A graduate of Trinity University of Music, London and Bait al Oud, Abu Dhabi, he also received vocal training with renowned tenor Domenico Cannizzaro and conductor Dr. Ahmed Abdel Sattar, learning different techniques.

Hamad Al Taee – composer and pianist

Emirati pianist and composer Hamad Altaee will perform a series of his original piano pieces accompanied by a live orchestra. He is considered one of the most famous contemporary composers in the region and has performed in the UAE, Italy, Belarus and more. According to the musician himself, his aim is to spread joy, simplicity and positivity.

Comedy Night with UAE Stand-Up Comedians – Monday 13th March at 6:00pm

Abz Ali – United Arab Emirates (UAE)

A certified dentist by day and stand-up comedian by night, Abz Ali is a regular on the UAE comedy scene and was one of the first Emirati comedians to make waves in the industry. His unique perspective and interesting social outlook make him a crowd favorite. He has shared the stage with global comedy stars Basketmouth and Eric Omondi at the same African Comedy Festival, and most recently he had the honor of opening for comedy legends such as Wayne Brady and ISMO at the MoE Theatre, at the Coca-Cola Arena, Dubai. https://www.instagram.com/abzalicomedy

Sundeep Fernandes – India:

The Indian-born stand-up comedian living in Dubai has been making waves in the city’s comedy scene since 2010 as Amit Tandon, Kanan Gill, Bis Biswa Kalyanrath, Varun Grover, Kunal Kamra, Daniel Fernandez. He has also hosted openings for international celebrities such as Ahmed Ahmed, Omar Hamdi, Bassem Youssef, Papa CJ and Ali Al Sayed, and performed for European Montreux Comedy as one of only 2 British actors from the Middle East. He started his journey at Toastmasters International and later graduated from Dubomedy. Audiences can’t get enough of his trademark deadpan style. Imah Dumagay – Philippines

Since 2018, she has been a comedic force to be reckoned with and a mainstay of the UAE comedy scene. An award-winning stand-up comedian, she escaped the monotony of her 9-to-5 job to devote herself fully to the world of comedy. Sustainable Palm Eye Art Workshop by Emirati Artist Azza Al Qubaisi – Full Day March 12-13

Emirati artist Azza Al Qubaisi is a strong advocate for indigenous and sustainable development. In this engaging workshop, she shows how to create sustainable contemporary art using palm leaves, a material rooted in Emirati fabrics.

Hip-Hop Workshop by Dance It Forward-Dubai – March 12th at 4:00pm and March 13th at 5:00pm

‘Non-stop motion’ Dance It Forward is coming to Festival in the Park with dance mastery workshops covering freestyle, hip hop, waacking, popping and locking. No dancing experience required. (Instructor Oussama Moghtaib)

Dance It Forward – Dubai’s Inclusive Dance Micro-Workshop for People of Determination – Monday 13 March at 9:00am and 10:30am

A workshop designed to encourage people of determination to explore safe and effective mediums of physical and emotional expression, designed to instill confidence and raise awareness of inclusivity in participants. (Tutor: Ancy Alexander)

Drum Circle: Learning Through Imitation of Dubai Drums – All day 12-13 March

In this rhythm workshop with Dubai Drums, professional drum instructors will teach participants how to mimic body language and movement to create unique beats. In this dynamic group drumming experience, participants of all ages will learn team-building skills as they immerse themselves in the sounds they create.

The Abu Dhabi Festival 2023 is being held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Shamsa Bint Hamdan Al Nahyan, Assistant to the Chairperson of the Emirates Red Crescent Women’s Authority and Chairperson of the Higher Committee for Ataya Initiatives.
