One of the most anticipated attractions in the UAE, Ain Dubai, on the island of Bluewaters, finally broke ground today, 21st October.
First announced in February 2013, Ain Dubai welcomes its first guests to visit some of the most spectacular landmarks in the country.
Ain Dubai is the epitome of Dubai’s ongoing commitment to developing the emirate’s products into a tourism and lifestyle destination and enriching the quality of life of Dubai residents.

Ain Dubai’s pods provide visitors with a stunning 360-degree panoramic view overlooking the waters of the Arabian Gulf.
Passengers can board one of 48 luxury cabins, each of which can carry up to 40 guests. Therefore, up to 1,750 people can be at the wheel at any one time.
It takes 38 minutes for the wheel to make one revolution, and it’s as stable as a rock. If you find this unbelievable, watch Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan sit on top of his hut sipping a drink.
Largest and tallest observation wheel in the world
At 250 meters, it is almost twice the height of the London Eye.
With the arrival of Ain Dubai, the London Eye at just 135 meters has dropped to fifth place on the list of the world’s tallest wheels.
At present, the highest Las Vegas High Roller is 167.5 meters high, the Singapore Flyer is 165 meters high, and the China Nanchang Star is 160 meters high.
More than 10 major countries work together to build
Creating engineering marvels is a global endeavor.
More than 10 countries have jointly built Al Ain Dubai, and steel wheel structures are produced in the United Arab Emirates, South Korea and Germany.
The UK, France and the Netherlands provide key engineering and project management expertise.
The two largest cranes in the world
Ain Dubai is over 250 meters high and built by two of the largest cranes in the world.
Mammoet was awarded a heavy lifting contract to install critical structural elements of the wheels. Mammoth recommends using their two super heavy-duty cranes to install the largest elements, legs and spindles directly from the barges they arrive at.
During the installation, Mammoet paired the world’s largest crane – the PTC 200-DS – a 5,000-ton ring crane with a 3,000-ton crawler crane.

11,200 tons of steel used
Ain Dubai’s key components were assembled by two of the world’s largest cranes, and the structure used 11,200 tonnes of steel in its construction, 33% more steel than was used to build the Eiffel Tower.
The attraction joins Dubai Holdings’ extensive entertainment portfolio, which includes Dubai Parks and Resorts, Global Village, Coca-Cola Arena, Roxy Cinemas, leading water parks and more.
