according to Tampa bay times, The lawsuit alleges that the original incident occurred in September 2018, when an employee of Tampa’s Tammy’s Nails 2 cut Clara Shellman’s foot during a pedicure. The wound caused infection mainly because the 55-year-old Sherman suffered from severe peripheral arterial disease, which reduced blood flow to the extremities. As a result, she had to amputate her limbs.
Three years later, a settlement was finally reached. The documents submitted on December 16 indicated that a settlement had been reached, but did not list the amount. Sherman’s lawyer Paul Fulmer later revealed that the settlement amount was $1.75 million. He said: “She was shocked, shocked, crying and dizzy at the same time.”
He went on to explain that after the amputation, Sherman went through a difficult period, including losing his home. Unable to walk, she became dependent on others, and now she lives with relatives.
She filed a lawsuit against the salon in May 2020 because she claimed that one of the salon employees used dirty tools and equipment to put customers in danger. In the lawsuit, it also claimed that the salon failed to properly train employees and maintain equipment.
Sharon shot back that Shellman was at fault because she did not seek immediate medical attention or “take reasonable measures to prevent the development of infection.” They also denied her claim that their tools were also dirty.
Fulmer said that Sherman deserved a settlement, but considering that she already had severe peripheral artery disease, Sharon agreed to $1.75 million, which surprised them.
