Saudi Arabian Airlines’ subsidiary, low-cost airline flyadeal, signed a seven-year TrueChoice™ overhaul agreement during the Dubai Airshow, covering CFM56-5B* engines that power its 11 A320-200 fleets. The TrueChoice overhaul agreement provides the time and materials required to overhaul flyadeal’s CFM56-5B engine fleet.
“GE Aviation is honored to provide maintenance, repair and overhaul services and materials to support flyadeal’s growth in the Middle East. This agreement will enable us to provide high-quality OEM services to maintain the flight of flyadeal’s CFM56-5B engine fleet, “Said Russell Stokes, President and CEO of GE Aviation Services.
As part of the agreement, GE Aviation provided flyadeal with an end-to-end engine management solution, combining engine overhaul services with the logistics of engine disassembly, replacement and leasing. Previously, the cost and logistics of engine disassembly, delivery and collection were the responsibility of the airline or lessor customer. The company’s turnkey approach means that these logistics will be handled by GE and its suppliers.
“We are very pleased to work with GE Aviation to develop its first integrated turnkey engine service program, which addresses flyadeal’s complete A to Z requirements under a single supplier agreement between GE and flyadeal. This proves something like flyadeal. How can true low-fare operators promote innovation and change by working closely with key partners willing to adapt to flyadeal’s specific operational needs,” said Mike Hewitt, chief operating officer of flyadeal.
GE Aviation will provide flyadeal integrated overhaul and engine replacement services through Caerdav, which is an independent aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) provider, which is the GE supplier under this agreement.
“This idea represents a new way for GE to conduct business, and we are proud to be one of their trusted MRO suppliers. Through close cooperation with Caerdav, GE will be able to provide its customers with a leaner and more efficient And a more cost-effective way to manage their engine needs,” said Joachim Jones, CEO of Caerdav Group.
The TrueChoice engine maintenance product suite integrates a series of GE functions and customizations throughout the life cycle of the engine. Each TrueChoice product is based on GE Aviation Fleet Support’s 24/7 remote monitoring and diagnosis to help reduce customer maintenance burdens and service interruptions.
