flydubai launches twice-weekly flights to Shymkent

Dubai-based airline flydubai has announced the resumption of twice-weekly flights to Shymkent International Airport (CIT) from 28 February.

With the launch of the flight to Shymkent, flydubai expanded its network in Kazakhstan to three destinations, including Almaty and the capital Astana.

Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai, said: “Kazakhstan has been an important market since we first launched operations in Almaty in 2014. In 2022, we will carry nearly 300,000 passengers between the UAE and Kazakhstan, Year-on-year growth of 145% In 2019, we look forward to strengthening trade and cultural relations with the opening of flights to Shymkent.”

The UAE and Kazakhstan have a long-standing trade relationship, with the two countries cooperating in several economic sectors, including mining, agriculture, oil and gas, and construction.

Jeyhun Efendi, senior vice president commercial operations and e-commerce at flydubai, said: “We are delighted to see our network grow in Kazakhstan, with Shymkent as our third destination, bringing the total frequency of flights to 22 per week. From From February, this frequency will increase to 26 flights per week and will provide our customers in Kazakhstan with a more convenient and reliable option to explore the UAE and beyond.”

Shymkent is the third largest city in Kazakhstan after Almaty and Astana. It is also an important cultural center integrating bustling bazaars, ancient buildings and natural scenery.

flydubai has expanded its network in Central Asia to ten points, offering passengers from the UAE and the region even more travel options. This includes Almaty, Ashgabat, Astana, Bishkek, Dushanbe, Namangan, Osh, Samarkand, Shymkent and Tashkent.

Flights operate between Terminal 2, Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Shymkent International Airport (CIT) twice a week. Emirates will codeshare on the route, offering passengers more options across the Dubai International hub. – trade arab news agency
