Four men were allegedly found in Bandra (East) on Tuesday night as they took a taxi to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International (CSMI) Airport for a flight to Abu Dhabi Kidnapped and robbed of valuables worth Rs 628,000 by three men posing as police officers.
The incident took place around 8.30pm when the complainant, Imran Mohamed, 26, a counterfeit jewellery dealer from Karnataka, was on his way to the airport with a relative and two friends. The four had to fly to Abu Dhabi on a 10.30pm flight before heading to Dubai for work.
Police said the four men took a taxi from Bhendi Bazaar when three men in police attire approached them just after their vehicle crossed the sea and approached the Gausiya mosque in Bandra (east). “A white car followed our taxi and a man waving a stick usually carried by the police asked the taxi driver to stop,” Mohammed told police.
When the taxi stopped, two men got out of the white car and began questioning Mohammed and his fellow passengers. The pair began attacking the four men when the latter told them about their flight, police said.
The accused then forced the four men to sit in their car and threatened them with jail time if they refused to follow instructions. The accused then took the four men to Goregaon. Near the NESCO area, the defendant asked the four to get out of the vehicle and flee with valuables.
According to the complainant, four mobile phones and various banknotes (Indian Rupee, Kuwaiti Dinar, Australian Dollar and UAE Dirham) worth Rs 628,000 were stolen. The four went to Vanrai Police Station and later Kherwadi Police Station. fir registered. So far, no arrests have been made in the case.
