Mental Health Awareness Week runs from May 15, 2023 to May 21, 2023, and is an opportunity to put a spotlight on mental health issues and the many support options available to the public.
People of all ages and from all walks of life face mental health issues.Recently, three Indian Grade 12 students ended their lives After getting the result of CBSE exam. Several such cases have been documented in recent years, showing that not only adults but also children need support and understanding to help them navigate life.
In the UAE, those facing mental health issues can seek help in a number of different ways.
800-HOPE (8004673) offers a spiritual support line from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. It was launched by the National Happiness and Wellbeing Program to support the National Movement Volunteer.ae. Residents can also send messages to 8004673 on Whatsapp.
The Indian Worker Resource Center (IWRC) also operates a support line. Initially set up for Indians, the call center has since catered to residents of all nationalities. You can call the hotline 800 46342.
In Abu Dhabi, residents can seek psychological support by calling the Estijaba Helpline on 800 1717. Staff from Abu Dhabi Health Authority Seha provided services by phone.
