Fujairah-ICAD Cargo Service Launches to Boost UAE Freight Movement
Etihad Rail Freight and AD Ports Group have launched a new Fujairah-ICAD cargo service, creating a direct rail connection between Fujairah Terminals and the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD).
The service was announced on September 20, 2026. It allows cargo arriving at Fujairah Terminals to move directly to ICAD through the UAE National Rail Network.
The new service also brings customs clearance, inspection and cargo release services closer to businesses operating in Abu Dhabi. This can reduce additional handling and the need to move cargo by road after it reaches Fujairah.
How the Fujairah-ICAD Cargo Service Works
Containers arriving at Fujairah Terminals can now be transported by rail directly to ICAD. Businesses can then complete customs and inspection procedures at the inland cargo gateway.
ICAD has also received the UN location code AECAD. This allows shipping lines, freight forwarders and cargo owners to book ICAD as a destination and customs clearance point. The service is designed to support:
- Importers and exporters
- Manufacturers
- Distributors
- Logistics companies
- Businesses with warehouses and factories in Abu Dhabi
Why the New Rail Link Matters?
The new connection links Fujairah’s port facilities with Abu Dhabi‘s industrial sector through one integrated cargo route.
Etihad Rail and AD Ports Group said the service can reduce reliance on long-distance road transport and shorten the distance between arriving cargo and its final destination. It is also designed to support high-volume freight movements and more efficient supply chains.
The launch adds another link to the UAE’s growing national rail freight network. It also gives businesses an additional option for moving goods between the country’s ports and major industrial areas.
